Phil Spencer from Microsoft has confirmed that the addition of background pictures, dynamic themes, and screenshot functionality. This is a step up, especially since Sony is most likely adding more customization in their 2.0 update (as talked about earlier this week).

It is interesting, as this could be a desperation move by Microsoft, or it actually could have been planned a while ago.
