It’s been six years since 2018’s indie hit Moonlighter first released, but after a big PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted reveal, it’s been confirmed a direct sequel titled Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault will release in 2025! The sequel keeps the dungeon-crawling, RPG combat and shopkeeping gameplay formula, whilst building on each mechanic and continuing protagonist Will’s journey to survive, and of course keep business booming!
You can check out the full reveal trailer for yourself below, which shows off the flashy enhanced graphics compared to the original Moonlighter, with glimpses of both dungeon-crawling gameplay and first looks at the vibrant Tresna. The village of Tresna will be integral to the shopkeeping gameplay, as investing in the local small businesses through trade and gear upgrades brings about a flourishing local economy for your own store too.
As the title suggests, it appears we’ll be on the hunt for loot and riches in mysterious vaults, but their seemingly ‘endless’ nature only brings more risk as the rewards increase. Like in the last game, being bold is a trait to be rewarded, as your loot becomes profit each time you return from the vaults with your hard-fought loot in hand to put up for sale in your store.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault will be coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and is again developed by Spanish indie studio Digital Sun, published by 11 bit studios. No release period other than 2025 has been provided, but you can wishlist the game now on Steam for further direct updates.
