Nintendo stated that they will be launching an online service for Nintendo this September. The service will don the title of “Nintendo Switch Online.”

Although Nintendo has featured online services on their consoles in the past, this will be the first time they will charge for the feature. Nintendo Switch Online will start at $3.99 USD a month, $7.99 USD for three months, or $19.99 USD for an entire year.

The online service will also feature several classic titles each month, according to Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima. Different from Xbox Live and Playstation Plus, though, these games will only be available for the month they are released online, rather than the unlimited time the other two offer.

Nintendo also stated that the Switch has surpassed the sales of the Wii U for its entire lifetime in only one year. Back in January, it was recorded that nearly 5 million units had been sold in the ten months since launch.

More details on the online service are expected as the year progresses.
