Nintendo Possibly Working On Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door Remaster

Rumours are circulating that Nintendo may be working on a remaster of the 2004 Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. This is exciting news for those who wish to see it available on the Switch. Here’s what we know so far.

This news comes courtesy of a member of the Famiboard forums who claims to be an investigative journalist. In a post, this user claims that “Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Remaster is finally happening and coming out soon!” They then go onto say they have been in touch with three sources about this news. However as this is still a rumour, it has not been confirmed by Nintendo.

Additionally, the Famiboard user also says they have contacted YouTube channels about this possible remaster but wish to remain anonymous in doing so. This includes YouTubers Nintendo Prime and Nate Drake as well as a third anonymous person. The post ends with the user PikminSnezkov saying, “I personally had always wished for TTYD remaster. I never played it on GCN so I’m over the moon excited to finally play it on Switch soon.”

The beloved Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door could be getting a remaster soon!

As one of the most popular Mario games from the GameCube era, fans are excited at the possibility of getting a remaster of this classic. This news also comes at the perfect time during the success of the new Super Mario Bros. Movie. Additionally, with Shigeru Miyamoto recently hinting at a new Mario game in the future, the Italian plumber is getting a lot of press right now.

With the recent success of Nintendo bringing classics to the modern day (such as Metroid Prime in February), it wouldn’t be a surprise to see more classics coming to the Switch. With remasters bringing with them improved graphics and better controls, they can only get better and we hope to see this with A Thousand-Year Door Remaster.
