Observer: System Redux Will be a Launch Title For PS5, Xbox Series X and S

Observer: System Redux has been confirmed as a launch title for both the Xbox Series X / S and the PlayStation 5. The enhanced next-gen edition of Bloober Team’s dystopian sci-fi thriller will be launched on Microsoft’s next consoles, as well as PC, on November 10. For the PS5, System Redux is due two days later on November 12.

Now for prices. Observer: System Redux will set you back £23.79/$29.99 USD upon release. It should be noted that System Redux will not include an upgrade path for the next-gen consoles.

Upgraded for next-gen consoles, Observer: System Redux includes a wide range of technological updates. These include ray-tracing, sharp 4K textures, HDR lighting, as well as new character animations and models. System Redux further includes new story content and gameplay improvements.

Last month, Bloober Team released a next-gen graphics trailer with lighting artist Tomasz Bentkowski demonstrating comparisons between the original and next-gen versions of the game. According to Tomasz, Bloober has been “able to create more immersive worlds with the new generation of consoles,”

The original Observer was released in August 2017 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Set in the year 2084, in a rather bleak and dystopian Kraków, Poland, Observer follows the late Blade Runner actor Rutger Hauer, who passed away last year. Hauer plays the role of Daniel Lazarski, a detective investigating a mystery within an apartment block.

This isn’t the only forthcoming game from the Polish studio. During the Xbox Games Showcase in July, a dual-reality trailer for The Medium was revealed. A patent was granted to Bloober in 2019, three years after it was filed. The end result allows Bloober to render two separate worlds, merging them as one to allow players to play within the two worlds simultaneously. The Medium is due for release Holiday 2020 on PC and Xbox Series X / S and is available for pre-order now.
