Pinocchio Soulslike Lies of P Gets New Trailer

South Korean publisher NEOWIZ announced its Soulslike game, Lies of P, early last year. Since then, a few trailers have been released showcasing the game’s dark story and flashy combat. The latest glimpse at the game comes from the Gamescom 2022 Opening Night Live stream. In addition to the story, the trailer reveals the game will release in 2023.

Lies of P tells a twisted tale of Pinocchio searching to find his maker and father, Mr. Geppetto. From what we’ve seen, the game is a mix between FromSoftware’s Bloodborne and Carlo Collodi’s classic novel, Pinocchio. This long-nosed legacy will take place in the ruined city of Krat. Players must craft new weapons and hone their skills if they wish to survive. Lies of P will also have narrative-driven choices and deep character progression.

The last tidbit of news from Gamescom is that Lies of P will be on Xbox Game Pass day one. The highly anticipated Soulslike will also be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Lies of P boasts an interesting lineage for a single-player Soulslike. Developer Round 8 Studio is also the creator of free-to-play online game Bless Unleashed, while publisher NEOWIZ co-developed some of the biggest titles under the EA Sports label back in 2006.

Gamescom 2022 will continue with more news about our favorite upcoming games throughout the week. So far, Opening Night Live has been full of big reveals, like the recent Sonic Frontiers story trailer, a new trailer for Avalanche Software’s anticipated RPG Hogwarts Legacy, and the surprise re-reveal of once-lost zombie romp Dead Island 2.
