Pokemon Scarlet And Violet: 5 Pokemon To Use For Mighty Inteleon Raid

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has another seven-star Raid event running this weekend, this time featuring the return of the Mighty Inteleon. With an Ice Tera type and many hard-hitting moves at its disposal, this Pokémon can prove difficult to beat for even the most veteran players. This guide recommends five different Pokémon that are good either attacking or supporting against Inteleon, so you can defeat this fearsome Pokémon and make it your own!

Koraidon

Pokemon Scarlet Violet

Pokémon Scarlet players will definitely have an easier time with this raid boss: Koraidon is easily the most effective counter for this seven-star raid. This dragon is part Fighting-type, meaning it is super effective against the Ice Tera typed Inteleon, and it hits like a truck thanks to its Legendary Pokémon status. Its signature move, Collision Course, is a Fighting-type move with an already high base power that does even more damage when super effective. The move only has 5 PP, however, which isn’t enough to last the entire raid. To avoid running out, make sure you increase the move’s PP with a PP Up or PP Max!

Koraidon has an additional bonus in its Ability, Orichalcum Pulse, which creates strong sunlight when it enters battle. Inteleon uses Blizzard as its Ice-type attacking move, which has its accuracy reduced during strong sunlight. However, since Inteleon knows Snowscape, which can remove the strong sunlight, it would be wise to teach Koraidon Sunny Day as well, and keep the strong sunlight weather condition up.

Koraidon is weak to Ice, meaning it will take a lot of damage if hit with Blizzard. Fortunately, Koraidon can heal itself using Drain Punch, a Fighting-type move that damages opponents and heals the user for half of the damage dealt. Drain Punch is super effective against this Inteleon, making it a quick way to heal Koraidon without needing to cheer. In order to deal the most damage and survive the most attacks, Koraidon should be EV trained in Attack and Special Defense, with remaining points put into HP. Also make sure your Koraidon has a Fighting Tera type, so it can effectively break Inteleon’s barrier! You can change its Tera Type at the Medali Gym, but you’ll need 50 Fighting Tera Shards in order to do it.

Annihilape

pokemon scarlet violet annihilape primeape mankey

Annihilape is another great choice to battle Inteleon. It also gets access to Drain Punch, letting it heal itself while still remaining on the offensive. Another good move it can learn is Rage Fist, which, while not being super effective against Inteleon, increases in power the more the user has been hit by the opponent.

The reason Annihilape is more useful than some other Pokémon is also because of its Hidden Ability, Defiant, which raises this Pokémon’s Attack two stages when the opponent lowers its stats. Inteleon has access to Tearful Look, a move that lowers Attack and Special Attack of the player Pokémon. Annihilape can turn this hindrance into an advantage with Defiant, boosting its Attack and letting it do even more damage.

Since it’s a Hidden Ability, players will need to use an Ability Patch item on their Annihilape in order to get it. The Ability Patch is a rare drop from 6 star raids, and a guarantee drop from any of the previous “Mighty Pokémon” seven-star raids. Also, Annihilape caught from 5 or 6 star raids can have this Ability upon capture. Just make sure it has a Fighting Tera type! Like Koraidon, this Pokémon would benefit from being EV trained in Attack and Special Defense.

Iron Hands

IronHands
Pokémon Violet players, fear not: The MVP of raids, Iron Hands is also a solid choice to counter Inteleon. It has a lot of bulk due to its high HP stat, and gets access to Belly Drum, a move where it halves its HP to fully boost its Attack stat. This, combined with the healing from Drain Punch, is a great strategy for almost any raid, and it definitely works in this one as well! Iron Hands’s main weakness is it’s lower base Special Defense stat, but if trained in Special Defense and partnered with a support Pokémon, it should be able to survive long enough to use Belly Drum and heal itself fully. Make sure Iron Hands has a Fighting Tera type, and is EV trained in Attack and Special Defense.

Crabominable

Crabom
Crabominable is a Pokémon not seen that often in raids, but its typing and move pool make it an optimal choice to face off against Inteleon. Crabominable can play either a support or attack role in the battle. As an attacker, it, like the other Pokémon on this list, gets access to Drain Punch. Crabominable can also have the Ability Iron Fist, which boosts the power of its punching moves further.

Another good move for it to know is Rock Smash, which will lower Inteleon’s Defense stat, making  future Drain Punches stronger, AND letting other player’s moves hit harder as well! Also, Inteleon starts the fight by using Mist, meaning attacks that decrease stats, like Rock Smash, are the only moves that can be used to decrease its stats. Like with the other attackers on this list, if attacking with this Pokémon, make sure it has a Fighting Tera type and is EV trained in Attack.

In a support role, Crabominable can get access to the move Wide Guard. Wide Guard shields all four player Pokémon against moves that hit the entire battlefield. Blizzard, Inteleon’s strongest move, is one such move. Acting as support, a Crabominable with Wide Guard would prevent other hard-hitting Pokémon like Koraidon from being hit by a powerful super-effective move. If using Wide Guard, that will most likely be the only move being used by Crabominable, so make sure to boost its PP with a PP Up or PP Max. Since it won’t be attacking in this role, its EVs would be best placed into HP.

Any Pokémon with access to Wide Guard is great as support against Inteleon, but Crabominable is ideal because its Ice typing gives it resistance to Inteleon’s single target moves, which Wide Guard will not protect against. In either role, Crabominable should be EV trained in Special Defense to take the least amount of damage when being attacked.

Magnezone

magne

Magnezone is a fantastic support Pokémon for raids in general, and has some particular advantages in this one. For starters, it can learn Light Screen, which will halve the damage from all of Inteleon’s attacks. If holding the Light Clay item, available at the Delibird Presents in Cascarrafa, this move’s effects will last for a full 7 turns. It is also Steel and Electric-type, giving it resistance to the moves Inteleon uses.

Magnezone also has a base Special Defense stat of 90, which is fairly high, and, combined with being EV trained in Special Defense, it can shrug off any of Inteleon’s attacks without issue. Magnezone can also provide backup using attacks, and gets access to powerful super-effective moves like Flash Cannon that it can use if other attacking Pokémon faint. It would be best with a Steel Tera type and EV trained in Special Attack.

For the easiest time defeating Inteleon with other players, it is best if at least two players bring strong attacking Pokémon. If not, it will be hard to break Inteleon’s barrier in time to defeat it. It’s still important for one player to provide support: one Pokémon with Wide Guard can prevent the others from fainting and leave the most time possible to defeat the boss!

Good luck defeating Inteleon, Trainers! And let us know which Pokemon YOU used in this raid in the comments below!
