Pokémon TCG Pocket Announces Alola-Themed Celestial Guardians Expansion

The next expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket has been announced with Celestial Guardians. Releasing on April 30, Celestial Guardians takes players on a trip to the island of Alola, with new cards themed around the Rowlet, Litten and Popplio starter trio, along with many other iconic Alolan Pokémon, items, and trainers. Solgaleo and Lunala will be the face of the set, with Celestial Guardians divided across two sub-sets named after each legendary.

The reveal trailer gives us a sneak peek at one illustration rare, with a stunning Alolan Marowak card briefly shown. It ends with a look at an even rarer card, as we see the new immersive card for Lillie flash by, complete with a little musical interlude to really draw our attention on perhaps Alola’s most famous trainer. Lillie was a key character both in the story of Pokémon Sun and Moon and the anime series too.

Lillie’s is one of the most popular trainers from Pokémon Sun and Moon, and we’re sure her immersive card will be too.

It’s always an exciting time when a new set drops, because it means players will have more opportunities to complete other sets as trading availability expands. We’re expecting the shiny Pokémon focused set Shining Revelry to get trading support in the April 30 update that adds Celestial Guardians and its new Alolan cards. This will allow players to trade online to collect the cards they’re missing from last month’s expansion.

Are you looking forward to taking a trip under the Alolan sun (or moon) later next week? Will you be chasing Lunala or Solgaleo first, and what Pokémon region do you hope gets the spotlight in the next expansion?
