Pokken Tournament developers explain that it is extremely unlikely the game will come to the 3DS

Lets be honest here, who ever said you know what I can’t wait for Pokken Tournament to come to the my 3DS, in fact that is the only platform I will play it for, honestly if you said that you are silly and dreadfully misguided. I don’t think anyone really accounted for Pokken Tournament coming to the 3DS, and in case you were that has pretty much been ruled out. Bandai Namco who have developed the game have pretty much said it will not happen.

While talking with GameSpot Pokkén Tournament producers Katsuhiro Harada and Masaaki Hoshino explained why a handheld version is unlikely. According to Hoshino porting the game from the arcade to the Wii U was “definitely a challenge” as they had to get the game working. So trying to get a graphically similar version of the game working on the 3DS is virtually impossible. Harada on the other hand pointed to financial issues stating “Programmer does not need technology. Programmer needs budget.” If you want this game you will certainly need a Wii U.
