Resident Evil 4 Remake: How To Solve The Mausoleum Lamp Puzzle

Before Ashley can finally escape the Mausoleum in Resident Evil 4 Remake and reunite with our hero Leon, one final puzzle stands in her way. That lantern you’ve been relying on all chapter will once again be your key to salvation, but only after you’ve worked out how to open the mausoleum itself.

This puzzle appears more complicated than it actually is. Despite being themed around the phases of the moon and a star, you won’t have to brush up on your astronomy skills in order to solve it, especially with the help of our guide. So read on to learn how to solve this puzzle in Resident Evil 4 Remake!

How To Solve The Mausoleum Lamp Puzzle in Resident Evil 4 Remake

The way this puzzle works is that the mausoleum stands in the center of the room and is surrounded by three pedestals and lanterns. To solve this puzzle, you need to match to the symbols made by the lanterns to the ones on the walls. Facing the door, we will refer to each pedestal as being to the right, left, and behind.

The symbols on the walls you need to match from left, back, and right are the crescent moon, full moon, and star. Here’s how to place the lanterns to  show the correct symbols:

  1. Replace the lantern in the back with the one you start with to show a full moon.
  2. Place the lantern you are now holding on the left pedestal to keep it a crescent moon.
  3. Put that final lantern on the right pedestal to shine the star.

Once all the stars (and moon) are aligned, the gate will open and you can get the Salazar Family Insignia. Take this back to the Library to close out this chapter.
