Resident Evil 4 Remake: How To Solve the Village Chief’s Manor Combination Lock

Leon Kennedy is certainly familiar with esoteric puzzles after his time in Resident Evil 2, but Resident Evil 4 Remake might be even more cryptic. The early hours of the game mainly focus on survival horror action, but once you get to the Village Chief’s Manor, the game will throw its first true roadblock at you in the form of a combination lock puzzle.

Unlike a normal combination lock – because why would anything in Resident Evil 4 Remake be normal? – the lock in question doesn’t use numbers. Instead, each dial has a symbol on it. Knowing that, it isn’t a three number combination you need to figure out, but what order these farming-related symbols need to go in. There is a clue available, but it may not be enough for some. If so, this guide provides exactly what you need to know to solve the Village Chief’s Manor combination lock.

How To Solve the Village Chief’s Manor Combination Lock in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 Remake combination lock

Once you encounter the combination lock on the manor’s ground floor – keeping you out of a tantalizing cabinet – you can search around upstairs to find a file with your only clue on it. The file, titled “Illuminados 4:3” reads as follows:

“In great veneration of their master, the people offered up their most prized possessions.

The old farmer, his finest crop.
The slight swineherd, his stoutest pig.
The beggarly grandam, her own beloved babe.

The master saw these gifts and was pleased.”

The highlighted words here are your clues as to what the combination is, which is the following symbols: Wheat, a pig, and a baby. Once all three are input in this order, reading from left to right, the lock will open and you can loot the key item inside: the Crystal Marble.

With that, you are free to move on to your next challenge in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Did this puzzle stump you? Let us know in the comments, and make sure you don’t get stuck later on when you encounter the Small Cave Shrine and Large Cave Shrine puzzles with our guides.
