Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Is FromSoftware’s Next Game

At the Game Awards last December, FromSoftware teased their next game, only displaying the title “Shadows Die Twice.” Since then, much speculation has been made as to what this meant. Yesterday at the Xbox E3 press conference, FromSoftware officially put the rumors to rest, revealing that their new game is Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Although it has the same “giant boss fighting” mechanics that the Soulsborne games have been known for, Sekiro will be set in a Japanese/samurai setting, differing from their previous worlds.

The game’s protagonist sports what seems to be a mechanical arm that can be used as a weapon. In the trailer shown at the conference, the arm transformed into an axe. At another point, the arm is used as a grappling hook, so it seems it will be able to change into several tools for the player’s convenience.

Altering their path from previous games, FromSoftware has gone with Activision as the publisher on Sekiro. Bloodborne and the Dark Souls games were solely published by Bandai Namco. It will be interesting to see how this will affect the game.

Although a definitive release date was not announced, the trailer shows that Sekiro will be coming in 2019 on the Xbox One, PS4 and Steam.
