Sony Confirms Full PlayStation Network Recovery And Compensation For Those Affected

It was a wild 24 hours or so, but after much discourse, worry and lost gaming hours, Sony have confirmed that their PlayStation Network service has “fully recovered from an operational issue”. Sadly they’re still tight-lipped on the cause of the issue, but they did return to X (formerly Twitter) with an announcement of compensation for all PlayStation Plus subscribers in the form of a five day extension to all existing subscriptions. Personally we’d have preferred $1 million in PlayStation Store wallet funds but we’ll take it.

In case you somehow missed it, PlayStation Network (PSN) services went down for almost an entire day, with the worst possible timing just as the weekend began on Friday night. The outage stopped gamers from playing online with their friends, as well as interacting with other key PSN services such as using the PlayStation Store or reportedly even syncing up a physical disk drive to the console.

Live service games such as Marvel Rivals or Fortnite suffered major player losses during the mess.

Sony remained hilariously quiet through the whole saga, only posting once during the entire outage that “some users might be currently experiencing issues”, which was the understatement of the century as was mocked wildly over on X (formerly Twitter). The company went radio silent through the following day as the Internet went wild at the loss of their console of choice to play their favorite games, with Sony only reappearing a few hours ago to confirm that the problem is over – without telling us what it was! Speculation online points to the possibility of some kind of DDoS attack or hacking situation, but there’s no confirmation of that just yet.

We’ll keep you updated on if Sony ever decide to clarify what exactly happened, but for now you can go back to gaming and enjoy those five entire extra days on your PlayStation subscription plans. Keep your eyes on GameLuster for more breaking gaming news and coverage, especially when you next notice your console’s network is down!

In case you somehow missed it” – LOL!! Until I read about it online, that would be me!! Same thing happened when they were down for almost a month (didn’t know until I read about it online)!! I don’t play online, buy discs whenever possible & refuse to buy the Pro because it’s diskless. So, just like last time, I’m happily playing away blissfully unaware of the issues!!
