Stellar Blade Becomes PlayStation’s Biggest PC Release

We recently reported on Stellar Blade‘s forthcoming PC release, but June has arrived and so has the PC port of the former PS5 exclusive Stellar Blade. Despite only being available for a day, Stellar Blade has rocketed every few hours to new concurrent Steam player peaks over on SteamDB, now crossing 180,000 concurrent players at the time of writing. This makes it not only an incredibly successful PC launch, but also PlayStation’s biggest ever on Steam.

It’s been a trend lately for Sony to release PC ports of their games to earn extra money, in a shift in their approach towards exclusivity in favor of more profit per game and a greater potential market size. Their previous most-played PC release was God of War, with an all-time peak of 73,000 Steam gamers experiencing Kratos’ journey for themselves. After just a day, Stellar Blade has already had more than the double the concurrent player count, indicating a strong PC audience that were anticipating the chance to play Stellar Blade for themselves.

The PC launch of Stellar Blade has massively outperformed all other PlayStation PC releases.

It seemed to come out of nowhere, but Stellar Blade has experienced rapid growth from a niche interest title to a full IP. With a sequel planned for sometime within the next couple of years, the developers over at Shift Up certainly have something special on their hands with the action-packed and fashionable world of Stellar Blade.
