Tactical Shooter Sniper Elite 4 Is Coming to Nintendo Switch

Fans of the Sniper Elite series will be excited to hear that the latest installment in the stealth and tactics combining third-person shooter series, Sniper Elite 4, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Previously, Sniper Elite 4 was released in 2017 (on Valentine’s Day, because what’s more romantic than awesome gun action?) for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC. It will debut on the Switch just in time for the 2020 holiday season.

Sniper Elite 4 is a direct sequel to its predecessor, 2014’s Sniper Elite III. It takes place in Italy in 1943, during some of the most dangerous days of World War II. Players take on the role of highly trained sniper Karl Fairburne as he is sent to assassinate General Tobias Schmidt. The latter had been responsible for attacking Allied forces with a terrifying new Nazi-developed weapon. As the mission continues, Fairburne becomes more entangled in the events going on in Italy, including a vocal resistance party, a secret operation, and more dangerous military secrets.

This fourth entry in the Sniper Elite series was praised for improving the previous games’ third-person shooter mechanics. In particular, fans enjoyed the X-Ray cam, which allows them to directly track the motion of their bullet even after it strikes the target. The game also features an expanded kill system that will enable opponents to be killed via shrapnel and stealth maneuvers and within melee range. Finally, both cooperative and competitive multi-player missions were added, allowing Sniper Elite 4 fans to play together with — or against — their friends.
