Tekken’s Kazuya Mishima Joins Smash Bros.

In a strong opener for the E3 Nintendo Direct, we were treated to the reveal of a new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter! No, it’s not Master Chief, as an alleged datamine suggested. It’s Kazuya Mishima from Tekken!

Take a look at the reveal in The Iron Fist of Darkness trailer below:

He may be strong, but taking down Kirby just isn’t that simple!

Heihachi appeared for a moment there too, so whether he’s an Assist, an alternate skin for Kazuya, or simply an enthusiastic part of the new Tekken stage, we will soon see.

A Tekken character being added to Smash Bros. has been suggested, theorised and all sorts for a while now, but it’s still a surprise to see it actually happening. The fighting game rep is really growing!

As with previous new additions to the roster, Sakurai confirmed he would be going into more detail on Kazuya in a presentation, which will be on June 28. There’s no release date for Kazuya just yet, so it’s possible we’ll be given one as a part of that too.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available on Nintendo Switch.
