Bethesda’s worst kept secret has officially been revealed, as a remaster of 2006’s iconic The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion just got announced and released simultaneously. The remaster is out right now, available on Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and Steam. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is also available as part of Microsoft’s Game Pass service for Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers, meaning you can subscribe and grab the game right now without paying the full $50 recommended retail price!
Leaks had been flooding in throughout the last week around the rumored Oblivion remaster, including Bethesda’s plans to shadow-drop the game as a surprise release. This reports clearly turned out to be true, with a live stream dedicated to the game immediately revealing its release today, along with a trailer showcasing just how impressive Oblivion can look in 2025. It’s not just a visual remaster, as some other systems in Oblivion have been tweaked to create a more enjoyable experience. For example, new dialogue lines have been added, levelling has been altered to be more like sequel Skyrim, and the third-person camera has been “modernized” to feel better when controlling your character. It has also been confirmed that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered comes with all original DLC from the 2006 game, despite also offering a Deluxe Edition that comes with a few extra cosmetic goodies along with a digital artbook and access to the soundtrack.
