The Guys at Oculus Rift Have Just Trademarked “RiftCon”

Recently the folks down at Oculus Rift trademarked the phrase “RiftCon”. This would insinuate that the company who is famous for its virtual reality headset may be planning to build an entire convention around virtual reality gaming or entertainment in general.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office website states that Oculus Rift filed for this trademark on the 14th February and also provides a lot of information about what services this “RiftCon” will provide.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office website says the services  RiftCon will provide are…

“Organizing exhibitions for cultural, educational, or entertainment purposes; organizing exhibitions in the fields of interactive entertainment, virtual reality, consumer electronics and video game entertainment industries for cultural or educational purposes; entertainment services, namely, arranging and conducting of competitions to encourage use and development of interactive entertainment, virtual reality, consumer electronics, and video game entertainment software and hardware.”

This information seems to heavily indicate that this is the direction that Oculus Rift Would like to go.

So what do you think? would you attend “RiftCon”? and do you think Oculus will take the plunge of creating their own convention Like Blizzard or  ID.
