The Last of Us Has Been Renewed For A Second Season

It was just revealed that HBO’s adaption of The Last of Us has been renewed for a second season. This comes as a surprise for nobody with the show already breaking records in viewership. To celebrate, episode one is now available to watch for free on HBO Max and UK network, Sky. For those in the UK, you can also watch it on Youtube. So for those who want to get up to date before the third episode on Sunday night, now is your time to.

Naughty Dog’s co-president and creator of The Last of Us has commented on the show’s renewal saying, “I’m humbled, honoured, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey. The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast & crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two! On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog & PlayStation, thank you!”

Fellow show creator, Craig Mazin added “I’m so grateful to Neil Druckmann and HBO for our partnership, and I’m even more grateful to the millions of people who have joined us on this journey. The audience has given us the chance to continue, and as a fan of the characters and world Neil and Naughty Dog created, I couldn’t be more ready to dive back in.”

It can be assumed that season two will take on the events of The Last of Us Part 2, especially with Druckmann posting “Part II —> HBO” on Twitter. Which will mean we will finally get to see which actor plays Abby, although this may have already been teased due to some eagle-eyed fans. Additionally, with the recent news that The Last of Us Part 3 is perhaps not on the cards for Naughty Dog, it’s the perfect time to have something to look forward to in the universe.
