The Last of Us Part 1 Sales Increase By 238% After Show’s Launch

According to the UK Boxed Charts shared by GamesIndustry.biz, The Last of Us Part 1 have seen a 238% spike in sales each week which places it No.20 on the charts. This has been as a result of the release of the HBO adaption of the show (available on Sky Atlantic for those in the U.K). In addition, the PS4 version of the game, The Last of Us: Remastered has also seen a 322% spike in sales and has re-entered the charts at No.32.

However, the top spot has been reserved for Fire Emblem Engage after its release on Jan. 20. This turn-based strategy RPG is the second biggest launch for the series in the UK (31% lower than its predecessor, 2019’s Fire Emblem Three Houses) yet it is still ahead of Fire Emblem Awakening which was released for 3DS in 2012.

The charts also show a decrease in FIFA 23 with a 21% fall in sales with God of War: Ragnarok following suit with a 26% decrease. However, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe remains in the list’s top 5 with a 3% sales increase each week and in 5th place is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II which has dropped after a 29% decrease in sales.

The UK Boxed Top Ten for the week ending Jan. 21. also sees a 104% sales rise for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle despite the game being originally released in 2017. This has been attributed to the game being sold on sale in UK retailers such as Argos and Amazon. Battlefield 2042 and also The Callisto Protocol climbed the charts once again despite their middling performance, also due to sales.
