The Last of Us Has An Easter Egg Hidden Within Google

With the recent hype surrounding the HBO adaption of The Last of Us, it is no surprise that marketing for the show has gone into overdrive. This latest promotion for the show has come in the form of an icon hidden within Google. If you are not a fan of the show’s Cordyceps (a species of fungi), this is probably not the easter egg for you. However for those interested, this is all you have to do.

Simply open up Google and search for “The Last of Us HBO”, and a red mushroom button should appear at the bottom of the screen. Now all you have to do is click this as many times as you want, and watch as Cordyceps slowly overtake your search engine. Pretty cool, right?

There’s not mushroom left on the page anymore

With the success of the show resulting in a 238% sales increase in copies of The Last of Us Part 1, as well as the show itself hitting 10 million viewers in the U.S alone, it is exciting to see the apocalyptic world come back to life (interesting choice of words) as new fans are introduced to the series.

Although a second season of the show has yet to be confirmed, fans have already began to speculate on the casting of characters who feature in The Last of Us Part 2, including Abby. With the show already having a massive fanbase and smashing viewing records, we will hopefully see an announcement for season two very soon. Until then, you can play The Last of Us Part 1 trial on PlayStation Plus Premium!
