The Medium Release Date Confirmed For December 10

A release date for upcoming horror title The Medium has been confirmed. The dual-reality horror thriller from Bloober is set for a December 10 release, as announced in a new reveal trailer. The Medium will be launch exclusively on the Xbox Series X / S.

So let’s break down the new trailer a little bit. It’s packed with the atmosphere and ghoulish imagery we’ve come to expect from Bloober, the studio also known for Observer and Layers Of Fear. The trailer strays away from the narrative of the game, instead of giving us eerie, yet gorgeous otherworldly worlds that protagonist Marianne will explore while complimenting an ominously somber score entitled “Marianne’s Theme,” produced by Arkadiusz Reikowski.

Bloober showcased the dual reality trailer for The Medium during the Xbox Games Showcase back in July. A patent submitted by Bloober was given the green light back in 2019, three years after it was originally filed. The end result allows Bloober to render two separate worlds, merging them as one to allow players to play within the two worlds simultaneously.

The description for The Medium trailer teases that players will be able to “discover a dark mystery only a medium can solve.” As Marianne, who can travel between both the physical and spiritual worlds, players will employ her psychic abilities “to solve puzzles spanning both worlds,” before going on to discover “alarming secrets, and survive encounters with The Maw – a monster born from an unspeakable tragedy.”

Yesterday, Bloober announced that Blair Witch would be heading to Oculus Quest. It’ll be available on PC starting on October 29. There have been no details about Blair Witch being released on other VR devices, such as the PlayStation VR for the PlayStation 4.

The Medium is due for release Holiday 2020 on PC and Xbox Series X/S. It is available for pre-order now.
