Tom Holland Confirmed As A Presenter At The Game Awards 2020

Tom Holland will be a presenter at The Game Awards 2020, Geoff Keighley confirms. This perhaps suggests that the event will showcase the first official trailer for the Uncharted film.

The announcement further piques interest, showing Holland in the iconic Nathan Drake get-up. This hints toward an exclusive reveal of some kind. The Game Awards 2020 live-stream takes place on Thursday, December 10.

Nominees for The Game Awards 2020 include Naughty’s Dog’s The Last Of Us Part II. The divisive successor is in the running for Game Of The Year against heavy competition, including Sucker Punch’s samurai epic, Ghost Of Tsushima, Hades, and the Final Fantasy VII Remake. You can check out all of the nominees here.

The Uncharted film wrapped up filming in October after almost ten years in development hell. There’s been no shortage of challenges in getting the film off the ground. The production has had to juggle both a pandemic and six directors coming aboard and subsequently leaving, including Shawn Levy, Seth Gordon, and 10 Cloverfield Lane’s Dan Trachtenberg to name some. Ruben Fleischer, best known for his work on VenomGangster Squad, and two Zombieland films, signed on in February 2020.

As previously reported, Nolan North, the voice actor behind Uncharted’s daredevil adventurer praised Holland for “smashing it” in the role. He joined the Spider-Man and The Devil All The Time actor on set, as indicated in a series of set photos.

A little earlier, Holland and Deepwater Horizon co-star Mark Wahlberg (stache and all) were pictured together suited and booted on a flashy set that echoed a heist chapter from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (“Once A Thief.”)

Along with Holland, Wahlberg, and Banderas, the Uncharted film will also feature, Tati Gabrielle, and Sophia Allen. The adaptation is to be written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron ManTransformers: The Last Knight).

The Uncharted film is due to arrive on July 16, 2021.
