Top 5 Announcements From Ubisoft Forward June 2023

The Ubisoft Forward event, as expected, focused heavily on signature Ubisoft titles such as the Assassin’s Creed and Tom Clancy franchises, although there were also a few surprises as well. Some of the titles included in this showcase, such as Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Star Wars Outlaws, were already mentioned in other Top 5 posts made here at GameLuster, so they won’t be included here. But there were still plenty of great announcements, so here is GameLuster’s five favorite upcoming Ubisoft titles!

UbiAvatar
UbiAvatar

As expected from a game based on James Cameron’s award-winning Avatar film series, Frontiers of Pandora looks absolutely stunning. Players can explore a massive world as they take on the role of a Na’vi waking from fifteen years of sleep. Once trained in human combat techniques, the protagonist knows little of Pandora, having spent their childhood sequestered and alone. Now, they can befriend and ride creatures, explore various biomes, and travel through the never-before-seen western frontiers of Pandora in an all-new story. The game is scheduled to release on December 7, 2023.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus Moves The Franchise To VR

Assassins Creed Franchise characters stood in a line in front of the Assassin's Creed logo

The iconic Assassin’s Creed franchise makes the jump to virtual reality with Assassin’s Creed Nexus, an upcoming title that does not yet have a release date. Nexus will be exclusive to the Meta Quest 2. It will return to the adventures of three protagonists from previous Assassin’s Creed games: Connor, Ezio, and Kassandra. The series’ iconic stealth gameplay will return in a brand-new way as players get to literally step into the shoes of their favorite assassins!

Assassin’s Creed Mirage New Gameplay Revealed

Assassins Creed Mirage

In an extended look at Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the upcoming thirteenth main series title in the Assassin’s Creed series, players got to see master thief Basim put his signature stealth skills to use in an assassination mission. The game, which is scheduled to release on October 12, 2023 for PlayStation and Xbox consoles as well as PC, will be set in Baghdad and will re-introduce Basim ibn Ishaq, who first appeared as a side character in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Although Mirage was the primary focus, an upcoming mobile game called Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade, which will be set in China, was also revealed.

Just Dance 2024 Joins The eSports Olympics

UbiDance

Ubisoft fans were pretty sure that another Just Dance game would be announced during the event – but what came as a surprise is that the Just Dance series is officially being added as an event to the eSports Olympics! The 2023 eSports Olympics will see the official debut of the Just Dance category. In addition, Just Dance 2024 will be releasing on October 24, 2023. The game will feature over 40 new songs to dance to, including Flowers by Miley Cyrus, How You Like That by Blackpink, and the long-awaited Just Dance debut of Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

Captain Laserhawk Is Coming To Netflix

UbiLaser

OK, this one technically isn’t a game, but we’re just so excited about it that we absolutely had to include it! Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix is Ubisoft’s latest collaboration with Netflix, and is described as “a nostalgia-fueled love song” filled with tons of classic Ubisoft characters interacting in an alternate-reality America. There’s characters from Far Cry (as the title suggests), Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs, and more….even the Raving Rabbids from Rayman are here! The series will be released exclusively on Netflix later this fall.

Besides these announcements, there were further looks at a bunch of other Ubisoft titles, including Skull and Bones (complete with a sea shanty!), XDefiant, The Division: Resurgence, and more.
