The DMZ, a brand-new “extraction mode” coming to Warzone 2.0, has been revealed by Activision following the Call Of Duty Next showcase yesterday (September 15). DMZ, deemed a “passion project” in a blog post from Activision, will allow players to choose their “own experience within the warzone, working socially if you wish, and collecting gear to keep in your Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 inventory and utilize from match to match.”
The DMZ mode was unveiled by Stephanie Snowden, the Director of Communications for Infinity Ward during the Call Of Duty Next showcase, teasing an “all-new sandbox experience” that will launch alongside Warzone 2.0, which is due to launch on November 16, 2022. Skip to 1 hour 19 minutes into the show for the full reveal.
“To this day playing it non-stop, the possibilities blow my mind” Snowden added. Infinity Ward held back details for the DMZ mode during the event, adding that the DMZ would be playable across the entire map of Al Mazrah, commanded by lethal AI opponents, who patrol strongholds and key locations, and will actively “reinforce” based on the actions of a player.
Other than the information provided in the post, further details on the DMZ mode are scarce, with Activision adding that they’ll have “much more to share about the host of new challenges, bounties, gameplay features and more when DMZ drops alongside Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0.”
Infinity Ward unveiled the first gameplay for Modern Warfare II during June’s Summer Game Fest 2022 Livestream. Johanna Faries, GM at Call Of Duty, described the sequel as a “transformational moment for the entire franchise.”
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II will launch across all major platforms, including the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC via Battle.net and Steam. For more on all things Call of Duty, stay tuned right here at GameLuster.
