A release date for Warzone 2.0 has been officially confirmed during the Call Of Duty Next showcase. The second iteration of the highly popular battle-royale is expected to drop as part of Modern Warfare II’s first season of content from November 16, 2022. The new map, Al Mazrah, has been described in an official blog post as “immense, dynamic and rewarding.”
Al Mazrah has been designed “from the ground up with the emphasis on loading up your favorite custom weapon, dropping in, exploring the vast landscape, and having a hell of a good time doing it” the blog post reads. With two months until the launch date, players will “drop into a massive metropolitan area featuring coastal towns, depots, desert, rocky peaks, subterranean spaces, industrial areas, rivers, and an entire city to explore.”
The updated Warzone mode is expected to serve as an extension to the Modern Warfare II universe and “deliver an all-new and seamless Battle Royale experience before, during, and after a match.”
Combat in Warzone will take players “across the land, sea, and air as the environment expands to include rivers, lakes, parts of the ocean, and more water-logged locations.” the post outlines. This offers an expansion of combat options for players who’ll contend with the ever-approaching gas clouds. Unlike Verdansk and Caldera, the studio teases “variations” of the choking storm due to “extreme weather pattern anomalies.”
Put simply, the safe zones around the map could split into multiple circles before converging into one final zone toward the end of a match. As for the dreaded Gulag, described as a prison and “livefire training complex,” everything remains relatively the same. Save for a new AI combatant called “The Jailer” whose key will give players a rare chance at a jailbreak.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II will launch across all major platforms, including the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC via Battle.net and Steam. For more on all things Call of Duty, stay tuned right here at GameLuster.
