Fans have launched a petition to bring back the Verdansk map into Call Of Duty: Warzone, courtesy of a story from Metro. At the time of writing – the petition has amassed more than 14,500 signatures – and the number continues to steadily climb as this story is written. You can see the petition for yourself here.
As we head toward the back half of the year, the first year anniversary of Caldera’s arrival into the battle-royale mode approaches – and it’s clear that not all players were open-minded to the changes. However, as outlined in the petition, fans are not asking the studio “to destroy Caldera” and instead asking the studio to provide alternatives. “Give us back Verdansk and modern weapons. Call it “Classic Mode” or whatever you find suitable. That’s our only wish this Christmas.” a statement to support the petition reads.
Players further state they “want choices and not be forced to play a particular map or mode.” They further express disinterest in “playing WW2” content in the game. “Many of us love Modern Warfare and love playing with weapons of today.” the statement continues. “We are a big group that hates WW2 weapons.”
“Listen to our wishes and do not force us to play a game we do not enjoy. Many of us consider quitting and wait for the MW2 to be released in 2022. We don’t want that.” the statement reads. In conclusion, they ask for “that excitement back. We don’t have it with Caldera. We want Verdansk!”
Historically speaking, petitions such as these fail to make much of an impact with game developers – including a petition from fans urging Sony to un-cancel plans for Days Gone 2. At the time of writing, the petition has amassed 174,141 signatures. However, there are no plans for a sequel to Days Gone, which suggests the developers, more often than not, will simply ignore the petitions.
