A wave of Easter eggs discovered in Call of Duty: Warzone appears to confirm a Zombies mode will soon be coming to the battle-royale. The first is a screenshot caught by Eric Maynard on Twitter, he stumbled across a Trial Machine in a hospital.
In a later post, Maynard confirmed he could only make the machine “appear on Rumble, not sure about regular warzone. And judging by the unfinished texture and scripts, it shouldn't be appearing yet.”
While he was unable to interact with the machine, the on-screen text reads “ZAI/ACTIVATE_ZOMBIES.”
In a more detailed clip, Youtuber TheCityofZ locates the trial machine on the map.
However, there’s more. The second cryptic teaser has appeared in the form of an on-screen glitch. A specific location within Verdansk triggers the screen to distort as Russian dialogue can be heard. Courtesy of Redditor Wolf-ofIicewrack, the dialogue has been translated.
"Dispatch, this is Russian ship Vodianoy, channel 1-2. Over.”
"This is dispatch, requesting shipping permit to Verdansk. Over.
"Dispatch, cargo secured, all systems are fine. Get ready to go. Over.”
Taking this clip at face value, the audio would suggest that the ship Vodianoy is preparing to transport Nova Gas from Rebirth Island to Verdansk, and perhaps, as a result, could link to an outbreak of the undead. Supporting this idea, Twitter user @KStidge snapped a screenshot of the Vodianoy close to the island.
The possibility of a Warzone Zombies mode has gathered momentum after a well-established Call Of Duty leaker posted information to Twitter regarding a “Treyarch style, co-op zombies on a large scale Fireteam map."
Okami correctly predicted that the 2020 Call Of Duty title would be named Black Ops Cold War, adding a fraction of credibility to these latest claims of a new Zombies mode.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
