Western fans of Capcom's Ace Attorney franchise have long hoped for an English language release of 2015 spinoff title The Great Ace Attorney, and its 2017 sequel The Great Ace Attorney 2. The Great Ace Attorney games tell the story of Ryuunosuke Naruhodou, the ancestor of protagonist Ryuuichi Naruhodou/Phoenix Wright, as he solves cases alongside Sherlock Holmes in Meiji-era Japan and Victorian Britain. It introduces a number of new characters to the franchise, including Naruhodou and Holmes' respective assistants, Susato Mikotoba and Iris Watson, and strict prosecutor Barok von Zieks.

It was commonly believed that the Great Ace Attorney games would not be localized due to the series' lack of popularity in the West. A previous game in the series, 2011's Gyakuten Kenji 2/Ace Attorney Investigations 2, has never come West, and 2013's Dual Destinies and 2016's Spirit of Justice both had a digital-only debut.

However, rumors of the game's Western release began when it was one of the titles mentioned in an earlier leak of stolen Capcom data. Now, a title called Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, which seems to be a collection of both games, has been rated in Taiwan by that country's Digital Game Rating Committee, as first reported by Gematsu.

If the data from the Taiwanese site is correct, Great Ace Attorney Chronicles will be coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC. However, no official release date for the collection was included, nor was it officially confirmed that the title will be translated into English.

Other titles recently rated in Taiwain include Tales From the Borderlands and multiplayer Hello Neighbor spin-off Secret Neighbor, both for the Nintendo Switch, and a PlayStation 5 version of miHoYo's Genshin Impact. Tales From The Borderlands was recently acquired by Gearbox, who did indeed promise to republish the title from now closed studio Telltale Games, which may be further indication of an upcoming Switch port.
