Wayforward announces Watch Quest, the first game exclusively for Apple Watch

I never would have thought a game on a smart watch would work out, but as always, Wayforward continues to impress me. Watch Quest lets you play as Shantae or, for the first time, Bolo, as you explore various locations. Not much has been revealed, but it appears to be some sort of idle game, with Wayforward stating,

“Gameplay revolves around choosing a hero and equipping them on the iPhone, and then guiding the Hero via the Apple Watch as he or she travels lands, battles monsters, solves puzzles, and searches for treasures. Players are invited to play passively by selecting longer, easier quests and outfitting the hero up front – or by taking on more difficult quests which require foraging for items as you go.”

They promise that more characters will be revealed soon, and despite being available exclusively for Apple devices, I’m interested to see more of this game. Nintendo and, to a degree, Sony have both done games with asymmetrical gameplay, but an opportunity for an asymmetrical mobile game has never really presented itself until now. It launches on April 24 alongside the Apple Watch, so we will not need to wait much longer to find out more about it.
