While it was challenging to get the iconic Hylian Shield in Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has made it easier for players to get their hands on this nearly indestructible Shield. Plus, the Hylian Shield is better than ever — it will make a massive impact during battles against big, powerful enemies. If you want to get this Shield early on in the game, follow this Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom guide to learn exactly what to do. So, without any further ado, let’s get started!
How To Get The Hylian Shield In Tears Of The Kingdom
Yes, it is easy to get Hylian Shield in Tears of the Kingdom, but some sort of work is definitely needed to get hold of it. Start off your journey from the Great Sky Island by initially traveling to Lookout Landing in the Hyrule Field region. From there, using the Skyview Tower, launch yourself into the air and glide your way to the floating Hyrule Castle.
Tip: If you are running low on Stamina needed to reach Hyrule Castle by gliding, you can always use food items and Elixirs to get a temporary boost. Cook with ingredients like Staminoka Bass or Stamella Shrooms to create these meals!
Once you do that, you now have to make your way into the docks underneath Hyrule Castle. This can be done in one of two ways:
By Using The Paraglider
The easiest way to get to the docks is using your trusty Paraglider! All you need to do is jump from a high point on the northwestern side of Hyrule Castle and glide your way into the cave near the moat. If you haven’t unlocked this useful tool yet yet, our dedicated guide to obtaining the Paraglider can help you out!
By Using A Raft
In case you don’t have the stamina to glide into the dock, traveling via a raft is also an option. Here, you will want to go to any of the docks available around Hyrule Castle’s moat and build a raft using some of the materials available there. More specifically, you can use your Ultrahand ability to combine a board and a Zonai fan. If you do not have the essential materials for building a raft, take a premade boat from the western side of the Hyrule Castle moat.
As you enter the docks, climb up the stairs to locate the unlit Torch in the area. On your way, you will find some strong enemies — namely Gloom Hands — defending the site, so either be prepared for a fight or try to escape them if you don’t want to take them on. Now, once you reach the unlit Torch area, use the wooden sticks from the small torches surrounding the area to light up the Big Torch.
As soon as you light up the Big Torch, a locked chest will pop out from the ground. Open this chest to claim the Hylian Shield!
