The Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update Has A Few Bugs

Fans have been eagerly waiting for the next-gen update for Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout 4, and perhaps as to be expected from the studio, the update has bugs, several of them across almost every platform the update released on. Most notably, the Steam version which has major technical issues and the PlayStation 5 version which some players cannot access due to an availability error. On other platforms, Xbox users have been unable to access the Quality Mode and cannot set the game to Ultra settings on 4K resolution.

The Xbox issue was confirmed by Digital Foundry’s tech expert Thomas Morgan, who shares the issue via their Twitter account stating “I can confirm that only the 60 frames per second Performance Mode works right now. The update has a bug.” On other platforms such as Reddit, players have also jokingly shared several screenshots showing off the glitches and “praising” the update.

On Steam, players have left several in-depth reviews pointing out all the various issues found within the update. One reviewer, Piglet, wrote “many of the bugs that existed and were promised to be fixed are actually still in the game after the patch.” Many also shared their disappointment as now numerous unofficial patches and mods that fixed issues with the game no longer work.

Despite all the hype surrounding the update after the Fallout Amazon series, its release has been nothing but a headache for some. Along with the numerous technical issues across PC and console, PlayStation Plus users who got the game for free from November 2020 to May 2023 have shared their frustration at as it was revealed that this version does not get the next-gen update yet due to a technical error.
