Star Wars: Squadrons Will Support Joystick Compatibility On PC

Star Wars: Squadrons on PC will support joystick compatibility, EA has confirmed. The game’s creative director at EA Motive, Ian Frazier, responded to a user on Twitter, OKeeee, who asked: “Hey, will SW: Squadrons have official joystick support for PC?”

In his response, he wrote: “Well hey, double checked and apparently I AM allowed to tell you that without being tackled by PR!”

He affirmed. “Yes, we fully support joystick on PC, including full HOTAS rigs with a throttle. :)”

“HOTAS rigs,” is an abbreviation for “Hands-on Throttle-and-Stick,” an immersive piloting system lauded by gamers who want to simulate a flying experience with a joystick. However, as Frazier’s response specified PC usage in particular, it could present an issue for console users. As a result, they may not have as much access to joystick compatibility as PC players would.

PS4 users will, however, be able to experience the game with the aid of Playstation VR.

Squadrons will feature a single-player campaign written by those responsible for Star Wars Battlefront 2. Its multiplayer mode will feature 5v5 dogfights between the Rebels and the Empire, set after Return Of The Jedi. Next-gen versions for Squadrons have not yet been announced.

An official reveal trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons was unveiled following an unplanned store page leak, which can be seen above. More footage has been promised by EA for tomorrow, June 18, at the EA Play presentation. New games and content are expected to be showcased during the event.

The live stream will begin at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET on June 18. For more information, head over to the link here. Star Wars: Squadrons is due for release on October 2 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
