It’s almost time for the next killer to be added to Dead by Daylight, as the game previously delayed the launch of its next chapter to focus on quality of life settings and adjustments to craft a more enjoyable gameplay experience before adding new content. Well, now the time is here for the new killer, as Tokyo Ghoul‘s Ken Kaneki is set to release on April 2, along with a wealth of other Tokyo Ghoul-themed cosmetics for other characters.
The new killer, titled in-game as ‘The Ghoul’, will have the ability to launch the Kagune, which are his tentacles that attach to any surface and then pull the player forwards toward it. This can be chained with another leap for rapid movement, and allows the killer to target survivors with an intense leap that grabs survivors and leaves them with a Kagune Mark. This mark will allow the Ghoul to become enraged, which gives him the ability to do three leaps in a row – and leap vaults more quickly! You can read more specifics in the official developer notes over on the Behaviour Interactive forums.
The Ghoul seems to be delivering some fast-paced gameplay to Dead by Daylight with his leaping mechanic; he also comes with three new perks that focus on damaging and hooking players, as well as one that can block pallets from being dropped. The update will also add some of the aforementioned quality of life options, including giving players the ability to surrender in specific unfair scenarios, improvements on scratch marks, map changes and many tweaks to characters.
Whilst the full Tokyo Ghoul chapter DLC and accompanying update will launch on April 2, you can try out the new killer right now on the PTB test server, but be warned that things like the killer and cosmetics won’t transfer to the live game.
