Officially announced during yesterday's PlayStation 5 showcase event, Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition will be a launch title for both the PlayStation 5 (November 12) and Xbox Series X (November 10). It will temporarily only be available digitally, and is currently anticipated to cost $39.99 USD.

This enhanced version of the latest entry in Capcom's popular hack-and-slash action series will add tons of new content which may appeal to both newbies and veteran DMC fans alike. In particular, Vergil, Dante's sometimes heroic and sometimes antagonistic older brother, will be made available as a playable character. Players who already own the original edition of Devil May Cry 5 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC will be given the option to purchase Vergil as a paid DLC add-on.

In addition, Special Edition will add Turbo Mode, the ability to play the game at 1.2x normal speed. If you want to hack down demons faster than ever before, then this is definitely the mode for you. Plus, fans looking for an extra challenge will be able to play through the game using the brand new Legendary Dark Knight difficulty. Just how difficult will it be? Well - we don't know yet!

Finally, the Special Edition will be optimized to take advantage of the next-generation capabilities of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Real-time ray tracing will render cutscenes and gameplay alike in higher quality than the original, while both 4K resolution and a High Framerate (120fps) mode will be available for players to toggle on or off. 3D audio and advanced controller features will allow players to react to swarms of enemies in real time.

While initially a digital exclusive, the official DMC Twitter account confirmed the title will get a physical release "at a later date".
