Diablo 4: How to Fix Latency Issues

Diablo IV has been released in early beta access, finally allowing fans to get their hands on the game. However, many players have been disappointed with the game’s high latency issue. This article will provide a brief explanation of what the high latency issue is, and offer some potential solutions to the problem. High latency is often due to a slow internet connection, but there are several other causes as well. To that end, we have created a guide outlining how to tackle this problem in Diablo IV.

How to fix high latency issues in Diablo IV

Diablo 4 gameplay

High latency is one of the main problems that gamers face while playing Diablo IV. It is a type of input delay that is caused due to a number of reasons, typically related to hardware or internet connection. It can result in lagging and stuttering of the game. As a result, the gaming experience is affected adversely.

There are a number of ways to fix, or lessen, high latency issues. Some of them are listed below:

Use a wired internet connection

If you’re dealing with a high latency issue, running a wired connection rather than a Wi-Fi connection can alleviate the problem due to increased stability. If you’re stuck using Wi-Fi, then limiting the number of devices connected to your internet can help minimize network congestion and potentially improve your gaming. To verify that your internet is up and running properly, perform a quick speed test. If it still isn’t functioning correctly contact your internet service provider as there may be an issue with your connection.

Close background applications

Task Manager 1

It is advised to close all applications that are running in the background on your device. Doing this will help ensure the programs are not using resources for other tasks, and it can increase overall performance within a game like Diablo IV. To do so, follow the simple steps given below:

  • Open Task Manager by pressing the CTRL+SHIFT+ESC buttons
  • Select the application you want to remove (only end apps that are safe to close, don’t mess with ‘background processes’)
  • Click on END TASK to remove it from the background
  • Now repeat the process

Disable your firewall and antivirus program

It is possible that a firewall or antivirus program could be preventing the game from running smoothly. In order to ensure that the game runs properly, users can disable their firewall or any other antivirus program before launching the game. Of course, be sure to put it back on afterwards!

Change the DNS server to Google’s DNS server

You can also check by changing your DNS settings. A good option to try is Google DNS, since it’s a public server and can improve internet connection performance. It may be worth testing this solution out to see if it resolves your issue. To change your DNS settings, follow Google’s official guide on that.

Please, for the love of all that is holy do not give advice on anything tech related. The issues are purely related to d4. With bangin’ internet and a kickass gaming pc it happens to me constantly. It’s not us, it’s them. And NEVER, EVER tell people to disable their firewall or antivirus. That’s just idiotic and dangerous. Shamefully awful advice.
