Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny Coming to Nintendo Switch

One series fans definitely weren’t expecting to get a new entry so soon is Disgaea — but we’ve never been so thrilled to be wrong! During today’s Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase event, Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny was officially announced for the Nintendo Switch.

The popular tactical role-playing game series, set in a grim-yet-zany subterranean setting called the “Netherworld,” gains a new protagonist in Zed, a zombie with a unique power indeed. Zed boasts “Super-Reincarnation,” meaning that the more times he dies and comes back to life, the more powerful he becomes! This power will definitely help Zed as he, in grand Disgaea tradition, fights his way through showdowns with bizarre boss characters and did we mention the hordes of everyone’s favorite enemy, the Prinny?

Fans of Disgaea’s rule-breaking limit-smashing approach to combat will be absolutely psyched to hear that the damage cap for Defiance of Destiny is being raised to somewhere in the quadrillions. Plus, the max level is now 99999999 so there will be plenty of replay value and an excellent reason to keep reincarnating Zed over and over again! (Don’t forget about collecting all the endings, too!)

Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny will release for the Nintendo Switch in Summer 2021. But, if you can’t wait until then to get your Disgaea fix, there’s even more good news! The previous main series title, Disgaea 5 Complete, will be available for free for Nintendo Switch Online members from September 23 at 10 a.m. PDT until September 29 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. Grab a Nintendo Switch Online membership before the start date to give this exciting title a try!
