Christopher Nolan's upcoming spy thriller Tenet has undoubtedly been a frequent presence in the news over the past several months. The film, which stars John David Washington as an operative of the fictional organization Tenet tasked with preventing World War III, has had its release date delayed three times due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Tenet is scheduled to release in the United Kingdom on August 26 and the United States on September 3. Its US release is expected to occur only in certain major cities due to most movie theaters remaining closed.

In addition to its rather unique release circumstances, Tenet has become known for its connection to the popular battle royale game Fortnite. In May, a trailer for the film debuted in Party Royale, Fortnite's premier socially-focused "hang out" server. Also, popular Nolan titles, including Batman Begins, The Prestige, and Inception were screened in full on the party island earlier this year.

Now, a mysterious item discovered within the game could indicate an upcoming Tenet crossover event. Players exploring the Unit 4 building of the Steamy Stacks power plant have found a bright orange case topped by some triangular idol or device. This video, posted by Twitter user @RaptureIsCool, illustrates the needed steps to discover the hidden Easter egg.

Fans were quick to connect the case to one which briefly appears in an official Tenet trailer. During a car chase scene, John David Washington's character can be seen clutching a similar orange container.

Currently, it is not possible to open the case found in Fortnite, nor can the triangular device be activated, removed, or interacted with in any way. It remains to be seen whether this is a simple Easter egg referencing the film or whether it indicates a more massive crossover event that will happen in the future.
