Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers July 21 – 27, as Donkey Kong Bananza has a fairly solid second week drop down to around 54,000 units sold. That’s a 58% drop, which is promising that the game didn’t fall in the 60% or beyond range. This suggests that Donkey Kong Bananza sales will have legs, and will gradually build up its sales like many evergreen Nintendo games do.
Despite its small second week drop, Donkey Kong Bananza fell to #2 on the charts thanks to Mario Kart World overtaking it, and returning to the top spot. The racer that launched the Switch 2 generation has now spent 8 weeks at #1, after a brief dip last week following Donkey Kong’s arrival. The Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Party Jamboree made its debut this week too, taking #3 with a little over 18,000 sales thanks to weak critical reception and players opting to purchase the digital upgrade for their existing copies of the Switch game.
Finally, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers managed to sell over 14,000 copies, and gives PlayStation a spot on the chart. Without Wuchang, it would’ve been yet another week dominated entirely by Switch and Switch 2 releases!
