Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers June 9 – 15, and it’s the second week on from the first partial week with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. Once again, Mario Kart World reigns over the charts with an additional 135,000 copies sold. This pushes the lifetime total in Japan alone to over 915,000, and almost guaranteeing a million sales for the title in the coming weeks. The Nintendo Switch 2 console itself also sold over 150,000 more units.
Elsewhere on the chart, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time surged up to second place, with an additional 11,000 copies sold. Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma held strong with its Switch version, selling a little under 10,000 additional copies this week. Funnily enough, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe also saw a spike in sales, rising from #14 last week to #4 this week thanks to over 6,000 copies sold for the original Switch’s Mario Kart entry. Both The Legend of Zelda Switch 2 Editions also held strong on the charts.
