Famitsu: Silent Hill f Debuts At #1, Whilst Sonic Racing Struggles

Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers September 22 – 28, as Silent Hill f dominates with its debut, even selling enough units to hold back the evergreen Mario Kart World from the top spot. With over 57,000 units sold on PS5, Silent Hill f managed to sell almost double that of the Silent Hill 2 remake and has become a serious hit for Konami.

Elsewhere on the chart, we had debuts from EA Sports FC 26 on PS5 at #3 and Switch at #8, for a combined total sales of more than 17,000 copies sold. The latest in the Atelier series also found two placements, with #4 and #6 on Switch and PS5 respectively, combining with about 20,000 copies sold.

Perhaps the more relevant story is how Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds made barely any sales impact in its release week, shifting only little more than 5,000 copies. We loved the game in our review, but this is an incredibly lackluster opening, only being marginally better than how Team Sonic Racing opened back in 2019.

  1. this would make sense if these games were at least remotely similar. youre comparing a hedgehog racing game to a silent hill game.
