Fire Emblem Engage, the tactical strategy title from Nintendo that debuted last January, is releasing its DLC quickly. Already three of the four planned “waves” of downloadable content have made their way to the game, with the fourth – which will include a brand-new story scenario – slated for later this year. The third wave dropped in mid-March, significantly earlier than fans initially expected.
For most fans of the Fire Emblem series, the highlight of the DLC has been the addition of several new Emblems – characters from previous Fire Emblem titles who are sealed inside mystical rings and bracelets and can aid your units on the battlefield. The first wave of DLC added Emblem Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude from Fire Emblem: Three Houses as well as Emblem Tiki from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light. The second added three more Emblems to the roster: Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade’s Hector, Fire Emblem Fates’ Camilla, and Soren, a character who appeared in both Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.
Of course, Wave 3 of the DLC brought with it even more new Emblems for players to claim and use in battle. This guide will cover which Emblems appear in the Wave 3 DLC as well as how to claim them in Fire Emblem Engage.
Buy the Season Pass On the Nintendo eShop
To obtain the DLC for Fire Emblem Engage, you must purchase it via the Nintendo eShop. Purchasing and downloading the Season Pass will immediately unlock the first three waves of DLC and also includes access to Wave 4 once it releases. If you are currently in the middle of playing Fire Emblem Engage, you may need to restart your game before the Season Pass items and maps appear.
The Fire Emblem Engage Season Pass currently costs $29.99 USD.
What New Emblems Are In DLC Wave 3?
Wave 3 of the Fire Emblem Engage DLC includes two new Emblems: Chrom and Robin from Fire Emblem Awakening and Princess Veronica from the mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes. These are currently the last known Emblems that will be added to the game, as Wave 4’s contents have not been revealed.
The previous two DLC waves included bonus items such as accessories, clothing, and support items. However, Wave 3 of the DLC only includes the two Emblems and does not come with any items.
How to Unlock Emblem Chrom and Robin
Chrom, the Exalt of Ylisse, and his tactician companion Robin are two people who make up one Emblem, sharing a single bracelet. They are a very balanced Emblem, as Chrom uses his sword Falchion and Robin attacks with both the Levin Sword and lightning magic. When equipped, this Emblem allows its user to perform surprise attacks against the enemy and Rally their allies to boost their stats.
To unlock Emblem Chrom and Robin, aka the Emblem of Bonds, the steps are as follows:
- Complete Chapter 6: The Stolen Ring of the main story
- Encounter and unlock Emblem Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude in the Somniel
- On the World Map, travel to the south and east across the ocean to find the Divine Paralogues located on a separate island
- Complete Divine Paralogue: The Shepherd Exalt
- You can now equip Emblem Chrom and Robin on any of your units
This Paralogue has a recommended minimum level of 18. Clearing this Divine Paralogue requires defeating both Emblem Chrom and Emblem Robin on the battlefield. You will have to destroy 3 Crystals to bring down the barrier preventing you from approaching Chrom and Robin. But be careful, because Chrom can call in reinforcements and Robin can flood the map with water!
How to Unlock Emblem Veronica
Veronica, the princess of the land of Embla, was seen by many as a surprising addition to Fire Emblem Engage. This is because she comes from the mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes, rather than any main series game. However, Emblem Veronica has proved extremely useful in battle. She can use the “Summoning” ability to call various allies to her side, greatly adding to the number of units fighting against the enemy. She can also heal her partnered unit and freeze foes after combat.
Here’s what you need to do to unlock Emblem Veronica, the Emblem of Heroes:
- Complete the main story through Chapter 6: The Stolen Ring
- Visit Lookout Ridge in the Somniel to encounter Emblem Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude
- Travel to the World Map and find the island of Divine Paralogues (south and east of the main continent)
- Complete Divine Paralogue: The Lonely Heir
- You can now equip Emblem Veronica in any future battles
This Paralogue has a recommended minimum level of 20. It is one of the trickier Divine Paralogues, so you may wish to promote your units into Advanced Classes before attempting it. You will need to defeat Emblem Veronica, who is located on a floating island in the middle of the map. She will constantly call in reinforcements and attack you with long-range magic, so be careful as you approach!
That’s everything you need to know about Wave 3 of the Fire Emblem Engage DLC and the two new Emblems who come with it. The upcoming Wave 4 is the final DLC wave and will include new characters, maps, and a story called “Fell Xenologue.” The release date of Wave 4 has not yet been announced.
