If you had asked me a year ago whether I thought a story could be put into something like Minecraft I would have simply said it is not possible. For a game that relies solely on building things and the players own journey, Minecraft just never seems to be the franchise that a thriving story could be pulled from, however I would be wrong as a new trailer from Telltale Games shows off. For one of their next episodic adventures Telltale Games has partnered with Mojang to bring a story to Minecraft that is completely original and works in a similar way to many of Telltales past games like The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us.
While in attendence at Minecon, Telltale Games showed off the first ever trailer for their upcoming game Minecraft: Story Mode and all I can simply say is, I have no clue what to think of this game. A story is something I never thought I would see in Minecraft but even still just from what is seen I see a whole lot of potential story wise for the game. The trailer features many familiar voices such as Ashley Johnson from the Last of Us and Tales from the Borderlands, as well as Patton Oswalt. I can’t honestly say whether this will work but in this instance I will remain nonjudgmental. Minecraft: Story Mode will arrive later this year for the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, and Mobile.
