Fortnite’s “The Device” And New Season Delayed Until June 15

Fortnite’s forthcoming “The Device” live story event, has been delayed. Its new season has also been pushed back. Epic Games stated in a blog post last night.

In summary, Epic Games announced they’d be postponing its “The Device” event until Monday, June 15.

Chapter 2, Season 3, would be delayed until Wednesday, June 17. In the statement, it reads:

“Recent events are a heavy reminder of ongoing injustices in society, from the denial of basic human rights to the impact of racism, both overt and subtle against people of color. We’re acutely aware of the pain our friends, families, team members, players, and communities are experiencing.”

Epic Games added that they “believe in equality and justice, diversity and inclusion and that these fundamentals are above politics.”

Regarding the delay, Epic Games said: “We know this delay comes on the heels of another one, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during these difficult times.”

Originally, Fortnite’s new season was due to arrive on Thursday, June 11. “The Device,” a one-time-only event, was scheduled for this Saturday, June 6, at 7 pm UK time.

In April, an all-time player record was set in Fortnite with Travis Scott’s live concert, Astronomical’, seen below.

Boasting a staggering 12.3 million players within the game itself, the Fortnite stream was watched by millions more online. In numbers, Travis Scott’s live concert overtook Marshmello’s 2019 event, with an estimated two million more in-game players attending.

For those who missed the concert, it involved a massive version of Travis Scott parading throughout the in-game world of Fortnite, accompanied by psychedelic light shows and music.

On April 3, it was announced that Deadpool would appear in Fortnite.  The official Deadpool Twitter account confirmed the news, reading: “Starting tomorrow, I’M crashing this party. There’ll be music, tacos, and a whole lotta Deadpool. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this.”
