According to an interview with The New York Times, Sony cites the success of exclusive games such as Ghost Of Tsushima and God Of War for much of the PS4’s acclaim. The report states that Tsushima had sold more than 5 million units while God Of War shifted over 51 million copies).
Hulst further congratulated developer Sucker Punch for the achievement, a studio best known for their work on the InFamous series. As previously reported, within the first three days of its launch, Ghost Of Tsushima sold more than 2.4 million units, making it the PS4’s fastest-selling first-party original IP.
Back at launch, GameLuster recommended the title, with reviewer Axel saying: “Ghost of Tsushima gives players all the romance and bloodshed of being a samurai, while moving them to meditate on the price one pays to fight against an occupying force, all within one of the most gorgeously rendered environments ever seen on a PlayStation 4.”
Also for fans, the official OST for Ghost Of Tsushima was released via Milan Records on July 17, available both physically,(a two-CD set) and digitally, produced by Ilan Eshkeri, and Shigeru “Ume” Umebayashi. The score is described as “a powerful, evocative score that brings to life the world of 13th century Tsushima and Jin’s difficult path from samurai to Ghost.”.
The game focuses on Jin Sakai during the first Mongol invasion of Japan, one of the last surviving samurais fighting for the freedom of Japan, and to bring down the Mongol Empire, learning the ways of the Ghost in his pursuit of his country’s independence.
Ghost Of Tsushima is available now on the PS4.
