In the first ever sales figure release for the game, Hogwarts Legacy is confirmed to have sold over 12 million units in its first two weeks. Variety broke the story, sharing that Hogwarts Legacy has earned more than $850 million in its first two weeks since its Feb. 10 launch date. These are some huge numbers. Discovery’s biggest gaming launch to date.
We expected big sales numbers after we reported that Hogwarts Legacy sold 80% more than Elden Ring at launch in the UK.Not only has Hogwarts Legacy caught a lot of eyes, it has also pulled a lot of attention to the greater Wizarding World as a whole, with Warner Bros. Discovery quoted by Variety as saying “there has been an increase of global franchise fan engagement overall with Wizarding World Digital garnering 300% higher traffic over the normal monthly unique visitor average for the first 10 days of February.”
The game released to positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike, with an 84 on Metacritic for its PS5 release at time of writing. The commercial success of the game has been huge, being one of Steam’s most-played single-player games shortly after release, whilst the Twitch viewership was breaking records as the most viewed game ever on the service. Hogwarts Legacy even had half a million people playing it before it even officially released, thanks to early access granted by the Digital Deluxe edition of the game.
