Despite releasing in October of 2023, players of Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1 are still encountering many major bugs and glitches. Luckily, these may be resolved quite soon. Konami has confirmed that there are several fixes and patches in the works aimed specifically at resolving the various issues seen in Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1, as well as improving the overall player experience. We will also be getting some insight as to what else may be coming to the game in the future.
The development team behind Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1 is currently looking into the issues plaguing the game as confirmed by series producer, Noriaki Okamura, and promotion manager, Jiro Oishi. The team’s main culprit for the bugs seems to be the game’s upscaling method, which the development team is hoping to optimize to better suit more modern hardware standards. The development team is also hoping to add on to or improve the game’s control configuration across all platforms. Unfortunately, these issues will take time to resolve and Konami has stated that in order to ensure these issues get resolved properly, players may have to wait some time.
As of writing, Konami has not given us an official date for when these fixes will be available but they are likely to come sometime in 2024. In the meantime, Konami has said that players should instead keep an eye out for Metal Gear Solid Delta, the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, which we recently got to see the title screen for as a little preview of what players can expect from the remake. Hopefully, the fixes for Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1 will help improve players’ opinion of the game as many were understandably upset by its rather less than desired release.
