Microsoft in Talks to Obtain PUBG Corp, Valve, and EA

According to IGN and Polygon, there are rumors that suggest Microsoft will attempt to acquire gaming giants Valve, EA, and PUBG Corp.

Polygon reported an inside source revealed there have been “internal shifts” within Microsoft and an attainment of the companies could happen very soon.

The origins of these moves can be traced back to October 2017 before the release of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One. Although Korean developer Bluehole originally planned a release of the widely popular game on Playstation 4 and Xbox One, they changed direction and gave console exclusivity to Xbox One “until the middle of next year or longer.” This action could indicate Microsoft is in the final stages of completely obtaining the hugely popular franchise.

Of course, this won’t be the first time Microsoft has acquired companies of this caliber. Back in 2014, they paid the developers at Mojang $2.5 billion for the fan favorite Minecraft. It is obvious that this transaction has been very profitable for both companies, so attaining other companies of the sort could be a clear next step for Microsoft. As always, we will have to watch and see what happens.

Should Microsoft be able to monopolize the market like this? How will this affect the gaming world if any rumored plans go through? Let us know in the comments section below.
