Nintendo Switch 2 Pricing And Release Date Revealed

We’ve finally got to see the Nintendo Switch 2 in all its glory after today’s Nintendo Direct showcase dedicated entirely to the Switch 2. Whilst the June 5 release date was announced during the stream, pricing and regional variation was somewhat of a mystery until now, as the system prepares for pre-orders next week. The Nintendo Switch 2 will have a base price of $449 in the USA, or £395.99 in the United Kingdom or €469.99 throughout Europe.

A more expensive version of the Switch 2 will be available featuring a digital download code for the newly announced Mario Kart World, which costs around $50 more but offers a cheaper way to get the latest Nintendo kart racing game than buying it separately. Pre-orders will begin on April 9, giving gamers two entire months to prepare for the Switch 2 launch and lock-in their preorders.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be available standalone or bundled with Mario Kart World.

In an effort to combat resellers, known online as “scalpers”, purchases from the official online Nintendo store will be limited to invite-only pre-orders that take into account numerous factors from the potential invitees. The initial wave of individuals invited to pre-order must have been a Nintendo Switch Online member for two continuous years before March ended this year, and needs to have spent a certain amount of time playing Switch games. Those with higher playtimes will be invited sooner. The invitees also need to have opted to both share usage data with Nintendo and to receive promotional emails to secure their invitation. It’s a hard line to take, but one that’s sorely needed with the current state of scalping online.
