It came out earlier this year that original developer Insomniac is choosing not to continue with the franchise, probably because of the paltry sales of the 3rd game. They’re instead going in a different direction with thier next game, a four player co-op adventure in Overstrike and a Facebook game called Outernauts.

Reviewers gave the last installment of Resistance: Burning Skies, generally dissapointing reviews. Burning Skies came out exclusively for the Vita in May and was panned for a dull storyline and presentation issues. Now more bad news as an online official with UK Sony made it clear there won’t be a Resistance 4 anytime soon.

Speaking in an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine UK Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Online producer Daniel Brooke told OPM that, “We have no definitive plans” for Resistance.
Brooke worked on Resistance: Burning Skies and when asked where he would like to see Resistance going (now that Insomniac have left the series behind) he replied: “The Resistance franchise has been exciting to work on but as for the future we have no definitive plans.”
